Covering wooden walls with bricks
Covering wooden walls with bricks
Covering the walls with bricks is slightly different than those with wood or plywood, as the sill must be offset from the outer edge of the foundation na 14 cm. In this type of wall, the brick wall completely covers the wooden wall, giving the impression of a brick structure.
Before commencing bricklaying, the wooden wall should be protected against moisture. Wood is impregnated and a protective layer of asphalt roofing felt nailed overlapping. As the wall is erected, metal anchors are nailed to connect the wall to the wall. The anchors enter the mortar layer. There must be a thickness gap between the wall and the wall 25 mm, to ventilate the wall.
Small gaps are left in the top and bottom layers of bricks (not filled with mortar) allowing the drainage of moisture accumulating between the walls, ensuring constant ventilation of the wall.
