On construction plots with no sewage system, household sewage and human excrement are discharged to a septic tank, the so-called. concrete septic tanks. This settling tank is a reservoir, used to collect liquid waste, which are periodically removed with the use of septic tanks. It is accepted, that the capacity of the settling chamber for 5 people can not be less than 3,0 m .

When building a concrete septic tank, the following conditions must be taken into account:

o the walls and floor of the concrete septic tank should be made of B10 gravel concrete and have 20 – 25 cm thick;

about the walls of the septic tank should be separated from the foundations of the cottage. This space should be filled with compacted clay or loam in order to isolate the settler from the house foundation walls;

o a hatch with a diameter should be made in the vault 45 – 60 cm closed hermetically in the light;

o the distance of the septic tank from the well should be at least 15 m;

o the depth of the useful part of the concrete septic tank must not be less than 1,0 m. Maximum depth for settlers up to 4,0 m3 must not exceed 1,4 m;

o the internal width of rectangular settlers cannot be less than 0,75 m, and the internal diameter of circular settlers must not be less than 1,0 m;

o sewage disposal should be planned at least 1 once a year.
