Permanent hanging of the shelf
Permanent hanging of the shelf
Once you have settled, what will be the load on the shelf, choose boards of the appropriate width and thickness, and sufficiently strong bolsters and screws.
Metal brackets are best for fixing shelves permanently. If the shelf is small, and the wall is even, first screw the angle bracket to the shelf. If the wall is uneven or the shelf is very long, it will be easier for you to attach the angle bracket to the wall, and only then hang the shelf. If the shelf is to be heavily loaded, use countersunk bars.
Use a spirit level to locate both angles. Drill two holes in the wall for the first angle, and then hang it, insert the screws and fasten. Repeat these steps for the other angle. Then put the shelf on the supports, press against the wall, center and screw to one of the angles.
make sure, that the shelf is hanging straight, then screw it to the other angle.
Mounting angle brackets on the wall
Keep the shelf against the wall, having set up a spirit level. When you set the right height and level, mark the position of both angles with a pencil.
FIXING SHELVES IN THE RECESSES
Wall shelves can be mounted on wooden cross supports, profiled metal rails or triangular supports, which we mount in the wall, just like metal angles. However, if the walls are very uneven, you can install two construction beams on the sides and screw the shelves to them. Cut the three slats to the correct length, one along the back wall of the recess, two for the side walls (both slightly shorter than the width of the shelf). Drill holes in the slats at intervals 45 cm, then drill holes in the wall that are equally spaced apart. Put on the wall plugs and fasten the battens with the screws. Put the shelf on the slats. You will not need to attach it additionally.
