Construction of concrete stairs, part 1
Construction of concrete stairs
The basement stairs outside the house or the cantilever stairs inside the house are made of concrete. Forming and concreting such stairs on their own requires special skills from the DIY enthusiast. We can only proceed to this then, when we already have some construction experience. The following introduction is only a general guide, because the stairs of each house have a different look, they are constructed differently and have different dimensions. You can only decide how to build them on the construction site. A specialist can be of great help in the design and construction of stairs. The external basement stairs are usually decked on the ground, which means, that there is no need to build a formwork base. The formwork of cantilevered stairs requires a very stable load-bearing structure, which, when laying fresh concrete, must possibly take a weight of several tons.
Staircase formwork
Before starting construction work, a drawing should be drawn up, from which we read the exact dimensions of the stairs. We start with determining the height, which is to be reached by stairs, then this height is divided into individual steps of the same height.
The height of a single step should be 16-19 cm. Must be followed, to sum 2 height and 1 the width of the step is within the limits 2 h + 1 s = 61 do 64 cm. These dimensions must be kept, that the stairs are comfortable to use. By setting dimensions, counted from the unfinished floor, the thickness of the screed and tiles must be taken into account, to be placed on the floor, as well as the thickness of the tile cladding
