Shelfs
Shelfs
Well-placed shelves and cabinets allow for optimal space management and for displaying or hiding individual interior elements.
There are two types of shelves: Store-bought and freely modified assembly kits and shelves that form an indivisible whole, which you can make yourself from the available raw materials. The latter type of shelves can be hung on the wall or installed in recesses. Shelves with a wooden housing are a bit more difficult to make, free-standing or attached to the wall.
Cabinets – freestanding or wall mounted – you can also make yourself from purchased resources, assemble from parts or buy in a furniture store.
If you have purchased a set of freely stackable shelves, you will need a hacksaw, which you will cut the metal rails to the desired length. If the shelves are not trimmed or if you want to build a wooden supporting structure for the shelves yourself, you will need a wood saw or a small electric saw. You can use a hand drill to drill holes
with a set of drills or an electric drill with drill bits for concrete and wood.
You will also need countersunk screws in length 5, 6,3 i 7,5 cm and wall plugs for fixing them in the load-bearing wall, as well as those for thin partitions. Besides, you will need a tape measure, ruler and spirit level.
Hacksaw for metals
It is used for cutting metals and plastics. Modern saws have a pistol grip and an extendable arm for mounting different types of saw blades.
Circular Saw
It is an electric saw, indispensable for fast cutting along straight lines of such materials, like wood, wood-based panels, plastics, laminated boards, plate, soft metals, concrete or ceramic tiles. Some materials require special shields.
Before plugging in, make sure, to keep the upper and lower blade covers in place.
Electric jigsaw
It is a saw for cuts along straight lines, curvature and cutting grooves in wood, wood-based panels, metal, plastics and many other materials. Some materials require special hacksaws to cut.
Drills
There are different types of drill bits: winding for wood and metal, coiled for wood, for concrete, countersinks, twist drills, tip drill bits for wide holes.
Wall plugs
For installation in brick, concrete and mortar. There are different types, for solid and hollow walls.
Expansion bolts made of elastic mass
The expansion spikes are pushed into the drilled hole, where their arms open when they hit an empty space.
Hand drill (carpenter's basket)
It is used for drilling large diameter holes in wood.
After installing the appropriate drill bit, it can be used for driving in and out screws.
